Manumix delegation visits Newport Wafer Fab

Newport Wafer Fab

Manumix is a EU Interreg project, which is concerned with the evaluation of regional Innovation Policy instruments in Advanced Manufacturing within 4 EU regions.

The project is led by the Basque region, with the Finpiemonte Region of Italy, Lithuania and West Wales & the Valleys.

Each partner learns and reviews the different instruments/policies used to stimulate and support Advanced Manufacturing innovation in the different regions and will then go on to evolve their own instruments with those deemed as good practice and/or greatest impact.

As a consortium member, Wales hosted the fourth Learning Journey. Over 20 delegates enjoyed two days of official meetings, workshops and industry visits.

During their visit to Newport Wafer Fab, the Manumix group heard presentations about NWF, Catapult and the CS Cluster, followed by a Q&A session and a tour of the facility.

Sam Evans, Director of External Affairs said:

“Newport Wafer Fab is delighted to host the Manumix delegates during their visit to Wales. As part of CS Connected, the world’s first compound semiconductor cluster, NWF values the benefits of collaboration for high-end technology companies and the key partnership role of the Welsh Government. Compound semiconductors are defining technologies for the 21st century and we welcome the opportunity to share learning from an advanced manufacturing viewpoint with our EU colleagues.”
